Unloading relocated production equipment and moving it to a fourth-floor installation area using 5-tonne forklifts and two 55-tonne mobile cranes.

Moving relocated production equipment from unloading point to a fourth-floor installation area
A global electrical-components manufacturer was relocating production equipment from Germany to its Trutnov plant in the Czech Republic. A local engineering company dismantled the machinery in Germany; Beck & Pollitzer’s scope began at the Czech destination.
The principal task was to unload the equipment and move it to the fourth-floor installation area, with several operations identified as high risk.
Risk documentation, 5-tonne forklifts and twin 55-tonne cranes
Before work started, the Czech team held a health and safety meeting covering the planned sequence. Risk assessments, method statements, lifting plans, training records and applicable licences were presented before the handling work began.
Seven operatives completed 528 project hours using 5-tonne forklifts and two 55-tonne mobile cranes to unload and move the equipment to the fourth floor.
