Our Commissioning & Operational Readiness service structures the testing, validation, ramp-up and handover required to move an installed facility into reliable production. We work alongside equipment OEMs and client teams, tracking performance against agreed targets and giving early visibility of issues that could affect start-up.

From installed equipment to production volume
A facility can be installed correctly and still miss its production-volume target. The critical factors are the structure around acceptance testing, the discipline of a stepwise ramp-up and whether operating knowledge transfers effectively from the project team to the people who will run the facility day to day.
This service provides a consistent framework for testing, ramping and handover, applied by people with first-hand experience of moving facilities from installed to operational.
Four disciplines, one handover
Together they carry a programme from installation complete to steady-state operation: confirming outputs meet specification through Process & Equipment Validation; dry-run, wet-run and integration testing against agreed performance targets through Site Acceptance Testing; stepwise volume increase, shift expansion and KPI tracking through Manufacturing Ramp-Up; and OEE measured against agreed targets, with knowledge transferred to the client’s team on handover.

We review test reports and validation results before acceptance testing begins so issues can be addressed while there is still time to act.
- Review of test reports and validation results, with recommended improvement actions
- Support for material and process validation, including third-party lab testing
- Coordination of lab testing plans, review cycles and reporting
- Process documentation support, including process flow, SOPs and QA/QC procedures
- Support for CQV (Commissioning, Qualification and Validation), including IQ/OQ protocols where required by the project or regulated environment
We provide structured governance of the SAT process from protocol review through to sign-off, working alongside the OEM specialists carrying out the equipment tests.
- Review of SAT protocols and day-wise test plans
- Verification of site readiness, including utilities, safety, manpower and materials
- Support and observation through dry-run, wet-run and integration testing
- Verification of test evidence, including data capture, logs and traceability
- Independent review of performance against agreed target parameters
- Specialist PLC and controls support, coordinated through controls partners, to resolve issues identified during testing
- Punch-list management, deficiency tracking and SAT governance reporting
We take a facility from first production through to volume with the tracking and escalation routines needed to close performance gaps as they appear.
- Stepwise volume ramp-up planning
- Shift expansion planning and rollout roadmap
- KPI framework, including daily and weekly production dashboards
- Performance tracking and escalation routines
- Bottleneck identification and prioritised improvement planning
- Process refinement and continuous improvement cycles
We track Overall Equipment Effectiveness against the agreed target, identify the causes behind performance gaps and transfer the operating knowledge needed to sustain performance after handover.
- OEE measurement methodology, including loss tree and baseline rules
- Availability, performance and yield improvement programmes
- Preventive maintenance programme establishment
- Sustained performance verification against agreed targets over a defined run
- SOP library completion and handover
- Knowledge transfer to the operations team and a final readiness recommendation for steady-state operation
What structured handover changes
A defined framework gives the transition from installation to operations clear testing, escalation and handover requirements.
Risk visibility | Deficiencies and performance gaps are tracked and escalated during SAT and ramp-up before the project team demobilises. |
Clear accountability | OEM, client and Beck & Pollitzer roles are defined from the outset so responsibility for equipment performance, site delivery and governance is clear. |
Faster, safer ramp | A stepwise, KPI-driven ramp-up plan closes the gap between commissioning and production volume in a structured, tracked sequence. |
Genuine knowledge transfer | SOPs, documentation and operating knowledge are handed over deliberately to the day-to-day operations team. |

Carrying the programme through to operations
Our approach combines structured governance with first-hand understanding of what it takes to move a facility from installed to operational. We track performance, escalate issues early and give the operations team a controlled handover into steady-state production.
Validation, acceptance testing and ramp-up that take a facility from installation through to proven production volume, with the operations team ready to run it.
From process and equipment validation through Site Acceptance Testing, ramp-up and OEE tracking, we support the final stage of delivery and transition into steady-state operation as part of our industrial consulting services.

Need to know more?
Commissioning and operational readiness is the structured process of proving that installed equipment and systems work as intended, then preparing the facility and operations team for stable production. It can cover validation, Site Acceptance Testing, ramp-up, performance tracking and handover.
CQV stands for Commissioning, Qualification and Validation. The CQV process brings together the checks used to confirm that equipment and systems are installed correctly, operate as intended and meet the documented requirements for the process, particularly in regulated manufacturing environments.
Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) is carried out before equipment leaves the manufacturing or assembly location. Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) takes place after installation and checks the equipment in its real site environment, including utilities, controls, interfaces and agreed performance requirements.
SAT can include protocol review, site-readiness checks, dry and wet runs, integration testing, data capture, performance verification, punch-list management and formal sign-off against the agreed acceptance criteria.
Yes. Beck & Pollitzer has supported documented Installation Qualification and Operational Qualification protocols as part of commissioning and site acceptance activity. The exact validation scope is aligned to the client’s procedures, equipment requirements and regulatory environment. See how this worked on 12 PLC-controlled syringe forming lines for a pharmaceutical systems group.
The programme moves through controlled increases in production volume, shift expansion, KPI tracking and issue escalation. Bottlenecks and performance gaps are addressed before the next step in the ramp so the facility progresses toward its agreed steady-state target.
Overall Equipment Effectiveness measures availability, performance and quality against the planned operating target. During ramp-up it helps identify where output is being lost and gives the project and operations teams a consistent basis for prioritising improvement actions.
