2,000-tonne Schuler press installation in Bursa, Turkey

Transporting and assembling a 2,000-tonne press where low-bed trucks could not reach the assembly area, using an SPMT, gantry and multiple cranes.

Turkey

The Challenge

Getting a 2,000-tonne press to an assembly area inaccessible to low-bed trucks

The automotive client required a 2,000-tonne Schuler press to be transported and installed in Bursa. Low-bed trucks could not access the press assembly area, so the delivery sequence needed a separate internal transport method after unloading.

The installation also required mechanical and electrical assembly, piping and multiple heavy lifts for the main press components.

Our Solution

SPMT transport followed by gantry and multi-crane assembly

The Turkey team unloaded the low-bed trucks and transferred the equipment to the assembly area using a Self-Propelled Modular Transporter (SPMT). A supervising team from Germany included site management, electrical, piping and commissioning personnel.

The press bed, slide and crown were assembled with a gantry. Cranes rated at 35, 75 and 120 tonnes were used for connecting rods, connecting-rod shafts, moving bolsters and tie-rod shaft equipment.

Low-bed trucks unloaded before internal transfer
SPMT used because trucks could not access the assembly area
Mechanical and electrical assembly and piping completed
Press bed, slide and crown assembled using a gantry
35-, 75- and 120-tonne cranes used for associated press components
Cross-border supervision from Germany supported the Turkey team
