Moving 400 tonnes of CNC, grinding and forming equipment 20 km to a new production hall, including an 85t machine with no original equipment manufacturer support available.

Moving an 85t machine without support from its original equipment manufacturer
The client was moving production machinery from rented premises to a new hall 20 km away. The 26-machine package included five-axis CNC machines, lathes, grinding machines and forming equipment, with a combined weight of 400 tonnes.
The heaviest machine was an 85t Alexa Monti MMC 60 MCS 140. Support from its original equipment manufacturer was unavailable because the manufacturer was no longer operating.
Nineteen operatives completed dismantling, transport, positioning and levelling across the two sites
The production machinery relocation covered dismantling, movement, positioning and levelling of all 26 machines.
The 19-person team used 5t, 7t and 8t forklift trucks together with 100t mobile cranes to handle the equipment package, including the 85t machine.
