Dismantling and containerising a 180-tonne extrusion line, including a 130-tonne press, within five weeks.

Breaking down a 130-tonne press for transport within a compressed five-week programme
Our Australian team was asked to relocate an entire extrusion line within an expedited five-week programme. The line totalled 180 tonnes, with the main press alone weighing 130 tonnes. Lifting the main press without stripping it was an option, but logistical constraints and transport costs ruled it out, so the industrial relocation strategy centred on stripping the equipment into components.
Tandem 40-tonne cranes, hydraulic jacking and match-marked components packed into 27 containers
The team stripped the extrusion equipment into components, match-marked mechanical parts and labelled electrical wiring before packing the equipment into 27 40-foot containers. Heavy lifts were completed using tandem 40-tonne Franna cranes, hydraulic jacking and skates. Electrical disconnection and reconnection documentation was supplied to support later installation and commissioning at the destination. The project also included controlled oil removal and recycling in line with EPA compliance standards.
