Dismantling, packing and moving automotive production equipment from the UK to Slovakia within a nine-week programme during COVID restrictions.

The Challenge
Completing a cross-border production line move during COVID restrictions and a fixed schedule
The automotive-sector project required production equipment to be dismantled at the Sunderland site, prepared for international transport and unloaded at the destination in Slovakia. COVID restrictions applied on both sides of the move, while the programme also had to stay within a strict nine-week schedule.
Our Solution
Dismantling, palletising and packing at origin followed by coordinated destination unloading
The UK team mechanically dismantled the equipment, palletised and packaged it, then loaded the transport vehicles using 5.5T forklift trucks and cherry pickers. The same handling equipment was used again during unloading at the Slovakian destination.
Coordination between the UK and Slovakia teams kept the origin, transport and destination activities aligned through the COVID-era restrictions.
