1,000-tonne press installation in the Czech Republic

Positioning and assembling a HOP 1,000-tonne press through a two-stage mechanical installation programme.

Czech Republic

The Challenge

Installing a 1,000-tonne press through two controlled stages

The client required the mechanical installation of a HOP 1,000-tonne press, following an earlier press installation Beck & Pollitzer completed for the same client in 2019. The press had to be unloaded and stored while its foundation was modified, then rotated and settled into its final position.

Our Solution

Hydraulic lifting, foundation preparation and final mechanical assembly

Our team in the Czech Republic delivered a two-stage mechanical installation. The first stage covered unloading, storage and foundation modification. In the second, a hydraulic lifting system was used to rotate the press and settle it into position, after which the team installed the inclined platform, hydraulic unit, piping and smaller associated components.

The internal team, including health and safety specialists, took responsibility for planning, management and control in close collaboration with the client. The work totalled more than 500 project hours, with the team working 10-hour days.

Need to know more?

Why was the installation split into two stages?
The press first had to be unloaded and stored while the foundation was modified. Rotation, positioning and final assembly then took place in the second stage.
What equipment was used to handle the 1,000-tonne press?
A hydraulic lifting system rotated the press into position, supported by a PT5400 gantry, a Versa Lift 25/35 forklift and a cherry picker.
