Rigging two 1,600+ ton injection moulding machines in South Carolina

Offloading, levelling and aligning two 1,600+ ton machines during a 13-hour shift in cold rain and through an elevated entry door.

USA

The Challenge

Handling two oversized machines through an elevated entry during cold, wet weather

The South Carolina installation involved two injection moulding machines weighing more than 1,600 tons each. Offloading took place during below-normal May temperatures and pouring rain, with an elevated entry door adding to the handling constraint.

Our Solution

A five-person field crew used forklift, hoist and crane equipment for the lift and alignment

The heavy machinery installation used an 80k forklift, a 40/60 hoist lift and a 130-ton crane to offload the machines, move them into position, level them and complete alignment.

The Outcome

Both 1,600+ ton machines offloaded, levelled and aligned within the shift

Both machines were successfully offloaded, levelled and aligned within the tight schedule and site safety requirements.
