Robotised underbody line replacement in the Czech Republic

Replacing 14 robots and 10 robot bases inside an automotive welding shop, including precision lifts over existing fences and equipment.

Czech Republic

The Challenge

Lifting replacement robots over fences and existing welding-shop equipment

The automotive manufacturer required an underbody line replacement covering 14 robots and ten robot bases inside a welding shop. The principal handling challenge was moving the robots over fences and other installed components.

The project also required mechanical and electrical dismantling, replacement positioning and reconnection of services and the exhaust system.

Our Solution

Three forklift configurations used for controlled robot movement and replacement

The 24-person team dismantled the existing equipment, relocated the new robots into position and reconnected the associated services and exhaust system.

Handling equipment included a 5.5-tonne electric Hyster forklift, a VersaLift 40/60 with crane jib and a 7-tonne Hyster forklift with crane jib. Safety planning formed part of the work throughout the 940 project hours.
